Admissions FAQs

List of 8 frequently asked questions.

  • Who needs to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) test?

All freshman applicants are required to take the HSPT. If your child currently attends a Diocese of Arlington school, they will take the exam at their school, typically around the end of November or early December. They should indicate Bishop Ireton on their testing form in order for their scores to be sent directly to our school. If your child attends a public school, other private school or is home schooled, they may take the exam at Bishop Ireton or another school offering the exam. Please be sure to mark Bishop Ireton on the test to ensure the scores are sent directly to our school.
  • What is the HSPT?

The HSPT is a national, standardized test used to help determine placement in high school course work. The test is taken once by the 8th grade student for a given year. It provides an assessment of both math and verbal abilities. The HSPT is not the application for admission; it is only one piece of the application process.
  • Do you offer a Pre-HSPT?

Yes, we offer the Pre-HSPT for current 7th graders. Click here for more information.

We also have a partnership with the City of Alexandria DASH bus service. Our students can ride DASH buses for free during the school year, which can take them to the King Street Metro. There is an annual fee for on campus parking.
